The Manufacturing Workforce Has Become More Educated

The educational attainment of the manufacturing workforce has been consistently rising, motivated in part by escalating technological and process sophistication. The share of the factory sector labor pool with a B.A. degree rose impressively from 16% in 2000 to 21% in 2013. Over the same period, the share with a graduate or professional degree rose from 6% to 9%.
